Job Overview

The Senior Executive – Process Sciences is responsible for planning and executing upstream processing activities related to monoclonal antibody (mAb) development within the Process Sciences group. The role focuses on aseptic cell culture operations, process development, and laboratory-scale bioreactor optimization to support the development of clinical-grade biologic drug substances. The position requires technical expertise in mammalian cell culture, upstream bioprocessing, and analytical monitoring while ensuring compliance with GLP/GMP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and execute upstream processing activities for monoclonal antibody (mAb) development.

  • Perform aseptic cell culture operations and maintain sterile conditions during laboratory processes.

  • Operate disposable mini bioreactors and glass laboratory bioreactors with minimal supervision.

  • Prepare media, feeds, and supplements and conduct sterile filtration processes.

  • Utilize automated bioanalyzers and automated cell counters for in-process monitoring and analysis.

  • Conduct clone screening, media optimization, and feed screening using AMBR 15, AMBR 250 mini bioreactors, and shake flask systems.

  • Optimize upstream processes using laboratory-scale bioreactors (typically 5L and 10L systems).

  • Analyze experimental data using statistical approaches such as Design of Experiments (DOE).

  • Monitor process performance through data trending and analysis.

  • Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with QA standards and regulatory guidelines.

  • Present technical data and research outcomes to internal teams and project stakeholders.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture and aseptic laboratory operations.

  • Hands-on experience with upstream bioprocessing for monoclonal antibody development.

  • Familiarity with mini bioreactors such as AMBR 15 and AMBR 250 systems.

  • Experience with laboratory-scale bioreactors (5L–10L scale).

  • Knowledge of media preparation, feed optimization, and sterile filtration processes.

  • Ability to perform process development experiments and analyze experimental data.

  • Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies and data analysis techniques.

  • Strong documentation practices aligned with GLP/GMP compliance requirements.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional research teams.

Experience

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in developing monoclonal antibody (mAb) upstream processes using mammalian cell lines.

  • Experience in biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or contract research laboratories is preferred.

  • Preference for candidates with prior experience leading teams involved in upstream bioprocess operations.

Educational Qualifications

  • M.Sc., M.Tech., or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or an equivalent life sciences discipline.
