The Opportunity: Head of Medical Affairs – Germany

Location: Ulm, Germany

Role Overview:

As the Head of Medical Affairs - Germany, you will provide strategic medical leadership, working in alignment with the General Manager of Teva Germany and the Regional Medical VP. This role is critical to the successful execution of Teva's Pivot to Growth strategy, product launches, and external engagement efforts.

You will act as a strategic partner to key functions, including Commercial, Market Access, and regional teams. The role offers the opportunity to lead seasoned professionals in generics and build new teams for innovative medicine launches.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop a multi-year medical plan, incorporating insights into Germany's evolving healthcare landscape.

  • Collaborate with the European Medical Leadership Team to align strategies and initiatives.

  • Drive the successful delivery of new product launches and R&D programs in Germany.

Medical Affairs Excellence:

  • Provide oversight for investigator-sponsored studies, collaborative research, and company-sponsored trials.

  • Accelerate patient recruitment for Phase I-IV clinical studies and identify German trial sites.

  • Lead compliance oversight for all research and patient support programs (PSPs).

Team Collaboration:

  • Set up and manage teams for innovative medicine while collaborating with internal departments.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration within the Medical Affairs unit and across other functions.

External Engagement:

  • Establish priorities for external engagement strategies and lead partnerships with key stakeholders.

  • Represent Teva at key external events and forums.


Who Are We Looking For?

You Are:

  • A seasoned leader in medical affairs with a proven track record of success.

  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships at all levels.

  • A strategic thinker who can analyze complex scenarios and develop creative, efficient solutions.

  • A decision-maker with excellent communication skills, capable of engaging diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders.


You Have:

  • A doctorate-level degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD) in Biological Sciences or a related field (Medical Doctor preferred).

  • 15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with significant expertise in medical affairs.

  • Deep understanding of the German healthcare system, including AMNOG procedures and GBA processes.

  • Proven success in launching innovative products in Germany.

  • Experience leading medical affairs teams across diverse therapeutic areas. Expertise in Neurology, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology (IBD), Immunology, or Immuno-oncology is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial execution, including patient recruitment and site identification.

  • Fluency in German and English (written and verbal).
