🧭 Job Overview

Independently manage end-to-end delivery of data management services for single or multi-service projects, ensuring quality deliverables on time, within budget, and to customer satisfaction. Provide expert leadership and guidance to the Clinical Data Management (CDM) team, covering project planning, execution, financial management, communications, and milestone deliverables. Roles may include Data Team Lead (DTL), Program Lead, Customer Site Manager, or Subject Matter Expert (SME). Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), regulatory guidelines, SOPs, and CDM policies.


🔑 Essential Functions

Client Management

  • Serve as primary contact for customer data management deliverables.

  • Manage multiple large or global studies/programs, providing leadership and senior support to other DTLs.

  • Lead project management activities, including continuous process improvements, issue escalation, workload forecasting, and providing technical expertise.

  • Negotiate directly with customers on timelines, budgets, processes, and resources.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure open communications with IQVIA management to meet contractual obligations.

Service Management

  • Coordinate with Data Operations Coordinators and teams to meet milestones and quality deliverables.

  • Provide training and development to junior team members on data management expertise.

  • Maintain communication with Data Operations, functional leads, project managers, and stakeholders.

  • Independently manage DM service delivery and serve as escalation point for unresolved data issues.

  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues.

  • Assign appropriate resources to meet project goals.

  • Create, review, and approve Data Management Plan (DMP) documents.

  • Ensure services meet quality and contractual specifications.

  • Implement proactive quality management plans and remedial actions across projects.

  • Lead change initiatives within projects or customer accounts.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific CDM tasks or technologies.

  • Act as customer site lead where applicable.

  • Mentor junior DTL staff and coordinate their work.

  • Maintain internal tracking databases and systems.

Financial Management & Business Development Support

  • Independently manage Statement of Work (SOW) and project budgets.

  • Review financial reports monthly and participate in project reviews.

  • Identify out-of-scope tasks and track change orders.

  • Participate in pricing discussions and serve as Project Manager for single-service DM projects including financial tracking and invoicing.

  • Support Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including document review, pricing, and bid defense.

Other Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvements and provide solutions within CDM and the broader department.

  • Lead focus groups or best practice teams.

  • Share lessons learned and present at CDM workshops or professional conferences.

  • Review and contribute to core operating procedures and work instructions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


🎓 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health, clinical, biological, mathematical sciences, or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of direct Data Management experience, including 5+ years as a CDM project lead.

  • Proven experience managing delivery of multiple global clinical trials (large trials with ≥1000 patients) through full DM life cycle.

  • Expert knowledge of data management processes including SAE reconciliation, external data vendor reconciliation, local lab data management, and new technology.

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience leading complex customer discussions and bid defenses independently.

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, Anatomy, and Physiology.

  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and relevant regulatory guidelines.

  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical drug development process.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, and customers.


💼 Compensation & Benefits

  • Potential base pay range (annualized): $68,500 - $217,100

  • Actual compensation based on qualifications, experience, location, and schedule.

  • May include incentive plans, bonuses, health, welfare, and other benefits.
