Role Overview

As a Senior Biostatistician, you will provide advanced statistical expertise to support clinical studies and projects, ensuring scientific integrity and data quality. This role involves study design, analysis, and collaboration with internal and external teams to uphold Abbott’s commitment to innovation in medical devices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Study Design and Planning:

    • Develop statistical models, sample size calculations, and hypotheses for clinical studies.
    • Write statistical sections of protocols and analysis plans.
    • Provide input on Case Report Forms (CRF) and data management plans.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Conduct statistical analyses and validate results.
    • Prepare statistical reports and sections for clinical study reports.
    • Generate line listings and ensure consistency across reports and statistical tables.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work with Data Monitoring Committees (DMC) and Clinical Events Committees (CEC).
    • Address questions from clients and provide insights on statistical findings.
    • Communicate statistical concepts clearly to non-statisticians.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify and address flaws in data interpretation or presentation.
    • Support the development of study processes to maintain data quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Master’s in Statistics/Biostatistics with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 3+ years.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in SAS is essential; experience with R, WinBUGS, JMP, or NCSS PASS is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Bayesian and adaptive design methods preferred.
  • Experience:

    • At least 5 years in medical device clinical research (preferred).
    • Strong ability to write and describe statistical models of moderate complexity.
