Job Overview

Amgen is seeking a highly organized and results-driven Senior Associate, Logistics to join its R&D Operations team in Hyderabad, India. This on-site role plays a critical part in ensuring seamless scientific operations by managing international shipping logistics, supplier coordination, laboratory consumable procurement, and operational governance.

The position supports Amgen’s research and development scientists by delivering efficient, compliant, and scalable logistics and procurement processes. The selected candidate will work in a cross-functional, global environment, ensuring continuity of supply, supplier performance oversight, and compliance with international import/export regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily international shipping operations, ensuring timely and compliant import/export processes.

  • Monitor and optimize global shipping lanes to improve efficiency and reduce risk.

  • Design and implement efficient procurement processes for laboratory consumables, reagents, and non-CAPEX scientific equipment.

  • Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with regulatory and customs requirements.

  • Maintain continuity of supply for critical lab materials and operational deliverables.

  • Manage supplier performance, contract deliverables, and governance processes within assigned categories.

  • Lead and support contract lifecycle management activities, including:

    • Scope of work development

    • Request for proposal (RFP) creation and analysis

    • Supplier agreement execution and tracking

  • Track and interpret operational metrics to ensure budget transparency and performance optimization.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities across logistics, procurement, and lab operations.

  • Resolve escalations related to shipping, supplier compliance, and operational disruptions.

  • Support lab modernization, transformation, and relocation initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align operational strategies with evolving R&D needs.

  • Participate in environmental sustainability initiatives related to logistics and procurement.

  • Provide backup support for shipping management planning, tracking, reporting, and compliance activities.


Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience criteria:

  • Doctorate degree with 2 years of biotech/pharma-related business operations or supplier management experience
    OR

  • Master’s degree with 4 years of biotech/pharma-related business operations or supplier management experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of biotech/pharma-related business operations or supplier management experience
    OR

  • Associate’s degree with 8 years of biotech/pharma-related business operations or supplier management experience
    OR

  • High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of biotech/pharma-related business operations or supplier management experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Health, Medical, or Clinical Sciences.

  • Strong expertise in logistics management, supplier governance, procurement operations, and project management within biotech or pharmaceutical environments.

  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, matrixed organizations managing multiple high-priority initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing operational strategies and delivering measurable results.

  • Strong analytical and data management skills, with experience in:

    • Microsoft Access

    • Tableau

    • Smartsheet

    • Veeva

    • Planisware

    • MS Project

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
