About the Team – Core Cell Culture Module

This team operates within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s R&D division, focusing on:

  • Strengthening the company’s biological portfolio

  • Supplying high-quality biological samples for the development and validation of recombinant antibodies

  • Developing knockout cell models to validate antibody specificity


Role Overview

Purpose:
To foster innovation and improve customer outcomes by designing, executing, and validating cell culture procedures, materials, and methods to support product development and antibody validation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cell culture activities including aseptic handling, expansion of immortalized and primary cell lines.

  • Conduct transfection and transduction experiments for molecular modification.

  • Work with stem cells, including performing various differentiation protocols.

  • Regularly assess cell culture samples using:

    • Microscopy

    • Gene expression analysis

    • Western blot/ELISA

    • Other relevant analytical methods

  • Independently initiate, plan, and execute scientific research projects focused on advanced cell culture techniques.

  • Prepare scientific documentation, including customer-facing technical reports, publication-quality figures, and images.

  • Maintain accurate data integrity and ensure proper documentation in electronic or physical lab notebooks.

  • Deliver high-quality experimental results within established project timelines.


Skills & Expertise

  • Strong experimental and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Expertise in transfection and transduction methodologies.

  • Proven ability to collaborate within teams and mentor junior scientists.

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including multiple cell types.

  • Additional expertise in protein biology and molecular biology is desirable.

  • Mandatory experience in primary and/or stem cell culture and differentiation workflows.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare publication-quality documents and prior experience in publishing research in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.

  • Self-driven, proactive, and creative in technical troubleshooting and innovation.

Core Knowledge Areas

  • Strong foundation in cell biology, cell physiology, and tissue development.

  • Capability to think critically, design experiments, and work independently with minimal supervision.


Work Environment

  • Laboratory and office-based setting.

  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat, etc.).
