Work Schedule: Night shift; hours 2:00 PM – 6:30 AM; open availability required. Training shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Role Summary

The Research Lab Technician – Night Per Diem plays a key role in specimen collection and processing during Phase I clinical trials. You’ll support study operations by harvesting biological samples, monitoring urine/fecal specimen collection, ensuring protocol compliance, and maintaining lab cleanliness—all during overnight hours.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Lab Support

  • Collect and harvest plasma, serum, and other specimens per protocol.

  • Monitor and support the collection of urine and/or fecal samples.

  • Ensure all documentation is complete and aligned with study protocols.

  • May be trained on specialized equipment for study-specific needs.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.

  • Support sample shipment and packaging procedures.

General Support

  • Work closely with coordinators to ensure smooth operation of the Clinics, Lab, and Urine Monitoring areas.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on study needs.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical certifications may be required depending on procedures.

Experience

  • 0–1 year of clinical/lab experience or equivalent combination of education and training.

  • Experience with biospecimen handling or clinical study environments preferred but not required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and time management.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in clinical/laboratory settings with potential exposure to infectious agents.

  • PPE required: gloves, lab coats, gowns, safety glasses, and ear protection.

  • May involve cold room/freezer exposure (-22°F/-6°C) and occasional loud equipment.

  • Standing/stationary for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to work variable hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
