Role Summary
As the R&D Hub Leader, Head of Workflow & Application Development, you will oversee the Application Development Labs with a focus on analytical chemistry at our Jigani site. Your role is pivotal in driving research capabilities, managing teams, enabling cross-functional collaboration, and translating innovative concepts into viable products supporting new product launches aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Hub Leadership
Develop and execute Chemistry’s business model and strategy for the APAC region in collaboration with business fields, MD India, Commercial, Value Chain, and ISCO teams.
Lead site-specific initiatives to enhance research capabilities and professional development at Jigani.
Identify and resolve site challenges to ensure high team performance and continuous improvement.
Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across functions locally and globally.
Act as the primary liaison between Jigani and the broader R&D organization for alignment with Life Science business objectives.
Share global best practices to improve efficiency and quality.
Provide leadership, coaching, and foster professional growth of team members.
Application Development & Workflows (Analytical Chemistry)
Design and refine analytical methods to replicate customer workflows.
Develop and validate analytical methods for new product concepts from prototypes to final designs.
Support new product introductions focusing on application development for rapid market adoption.
Train Field Application Teams on product benefits, especially new launches.
R&D for Chemical Synthesis (Hub Lead)
Promote innovative solutions in chemical synthesis including automated synthesis, advanced catalysis, and computational modeling.
Translate concepts into market-ready products through cross-functional collaboration.
Develop customized solutions by working closely with customers and business partners.
Strategic Planning & Budget Management
Implement R&D and business strategies to drive growth via innovation and market differentiation.
Develop and oversee OPEX and CAPEX budgets for R&D projects.
Monitor expenditures and report regularly to the Head of R&D Chemistry.
Track KPIs and provide insights into R&D performance, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Customer Engagement & Market Alignment
Act as the voice of the customer by integrating scientific and technical feedback into R&D priorities.
Develop feedback mechanisms post-launch to inform product refinement and future projects.
Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Field Application Teams to address market trends and customer needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Significant industry experience in analytical chemistry and chemical synthesis.
Proven leadership managing cross-functional teams within matrix organizations.
Strong skills in strategic planning and budget management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of influencing at all levels.
Familiarity with automated systems and computational modeling (a plus).
