🌟 About the Role

As a Quality Lab Associate I - Micro ID, you will be an essential part of the Baxter Quality team dedicated to saving and sustaining lives by ensuring product safety and quality. You will perform microbiological testing, maintain laboratory equipment, support investigations, and uphold strict compliance with regulatory standards.

This role demands creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.


📋 Key Responsibilities

🔬 Laboratory Operations

  • Operate lab equipment such as laminar flow hoods, autoclaves, incubators, and other instruments.

  • Prepare microbiological media (e.g., TSA, TSB).

  • Perform growth promotion testing, media sterility verification, and Thermal Death Time testing.

  • Read plates, interpret microbial test results, and enter data into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).

  • Approve documentation including Microbial Identification forms, media production logs, growth tests, and incubator logs.

  • Assist in compiling monthly Microbial Identification reports.

  • Maintain a clean and safe lab environment following 6S principles.

  • Perform laboratory and manufacturing audits as required.

  • Conduct monthly safety audits and general lab housekeeping.

📝 Documentation & Compliance

  • Initiate paperwork and provide information for microbial out-of-limit investigations.

  • Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and review technical documents.

  • Adhere to Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), FDA, cGMP, GLPs, and USP testing methodologies.

👥 Training & Mentorship

  • Train peers and team members on microbiological tests and procedures.

  • Serve as a mentor for Quality Lab Technicians (QLT).

  • Act as back-up to Quality Lab Associate II (QLA II) during absences.


🎓 Qualifications & Skills

📚 Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Microbiology, Biology, or related science.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in biological sciences with applied experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or medical device industries.

  • OR Master’s degree in biological sciences with relevant experience.

🧰 Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of microbiological testing and aseptic techniques.

  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and LIMS or equivalent systems (e.g., TrackWise).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Strong understanding of FDA, cGMP, GLP, USP, and related regulatory guidelines.

💡 Soft Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong documentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Effective communication with supervisors and peers.

💪 Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

💵 Compensation

  • Estimated Annual Salary Range: $64,000 - $88,000

  • Salary depends on location, skills, experience, and market factors.

  • May be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
