Job Overview

  • Location: UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside-Presbyterian Campus
  • Role: Full-Time Pharmacist
  • Focus: Enhance patient outcomes through cost-effective pharmacotherapy, provide experiential education for healthcare practitioners, and support drug-related research.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Patient Care:

    • Review and manage patient medication records for allergies, drug interactions, and duplications.
    • Accurately identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions.
    • Interpret and evaluate physician orders to prepare and dispense appropriate medications.
  2. Pharmaceutical Operations:

    • Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions using aseptic techniques.
    • Organize daily operational duties and supervise pharmacy technicians, aides, and interns.
    • Fill prescriptions following State and Federal regulations, utilizing technology to enhance efficiency.
  3. Education and Collaboration:

    • Provide drug information and educational programs for healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure all practices align with the Pharmacy Practice Act, Federal Drug Laws, and other regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Required: B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:
    • Preferred: 3–6 months of hospital pharmacy experience.
    • Familiarity with investigational drug control procedures and protocol design is advantageous.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

  • Required:
    • Pharmacist license.
    • Act 34 clearance.
