Job Overview

A leading global intellectual property and innovation intelligence organization is seeking a Patent Classifier with expertise in Electrical Engineering or Physics. This role supports patent search and classification operations by assigning accurate classifications under the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) and United States Patent Classification (USPC) systems.

The position is ideal for engineering or physics graduates interested in building a career in intellectual property, patent analytics, and technology classification. The selected candidate will analyze patent applications, interpret technical disclosures, and apply structured classification frameworks to ensure accurate categorization of innovations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze patent applications and technical disclosures in electrical and physics-related domains

  • Assign patent classifications according to CPC and USPC standards

  • Apply classification definitions, rules, and hierarchical structures accurately

  • Conduct technical research using internal systems and classification tools

  • Expand expertise into emerging electrical and physical science technologies

  • Maintain defined productivity and quality benchmarks

  • Collaborate within a team-based patent analytics environment

Required Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.

Technical Background:
Coursework or experience in areas such as:

  • Circuits and electronics

  • Electrical systems and power systems

  • Semiconductors

  • Optics and photonics

  • Digital signal processing

  • Testing and measurement systems

Experience:
Minimum 6 months of research experience through employment, internships, academic projects, or volunteer work.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Must have resided in the U.S. for the past two consecutive years

  • Must live within commuting distance of one of the listed office locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in intellectual property or patent-related roles

  • Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Experience using research tools and digital systems for technical analysis
