Role Summary

The Paramedic – Virtual Site Network is responsible for delivering advanced and basic emergency medical care to participants in clinical trials. Based remotely but supporting travel across site locations, this role plays a key part in ensuring participant safety, monitoring adverse events, and supporting clinical operations within decentralized and on-site studies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergent and non-emergent medical care to study participants

  • Independently direct stabilization efforts in life-threatening situations

  • Monitor, assess, and document Adverse Events (AEs); report and escalate as needed

  • Conduct ECGs, vital signs, phlebotomy, and IV/IM/SQ/oral dosing

  • Act as a subject safety contact and monitor telemetry for arrhythmia

  • Assist physicians and project managers in planning study logistics

  • Provide daily safety reports and support protocol adherence

  • Travel up to 75% to support other clinical sites across the U.S.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Texas EMT-Paramedic license

  • ACLS certification (American Heart Association)

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience (including at least 3 years on an ALS unit or clinical setting)

  • Strong emergency response and advanced care capabilities

  • Competent in phlebotomy, IV insertion, airway management, and medical assessments


Preferred Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and handle complex emergency scenarios

  • Experience in a clinical trials or research setting is a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and documentation with precision


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Clinical and remote office settings

  • Potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious agents

  • Frequent standing, bending, and lifting (up to 35 lbs)

  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements

  • Use of computers and internal/external clinical systems

  • May require varied and extended hours depending on clinical needs
