About the Role

Fortrea, one of the world’s largest and most innovative Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), is seeking an Outpatient Visit (OPV) Research Nurse I to support our Clinical Pharmacology Start-Up Team in Dallas, TX.

In this full-time role, you’ll be on the frontlines of early-phase clinical trials, helping to determine the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of new drug therapies. You’ll collaborate with leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in a high-impact environment that blends nursing care with cutting-edge medical research.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Participant Safety

  • Ensure the dignity, health, safety, and welfare of all study participants are prioritized.

  • Maintain current emergency certifications and follow all emergency protocols.

  • Respond to emergency situations following professional nursing standards.

  • Utilize nursing diagnosis, clinical judgment, and skills to deliver high-quality care to clinical trial participants.

Participant Engagement & Compliance

  • Conduct Informed Consent procedures and ongoing participant education.

  • Monitor participant well-being, assess for adverse events, document findings, and initiate appropriate actions.

  • Administer investigational drugs (including parenteral administration) in compliance with study protocols and regulations.

Study Support & Data Collection

  • Perform a range of study procedures, including:

    • Cannulation

    • Telemetry & Holter Monitoring

    • Vital signs

    • ECGs

    • Venipuncture

  • Accurately record and transcribe data into Case Report Forms (CRFs) and electronic systems per SOPs and protocols.

  • Support various early-phase study types (e.g., first-in-human, food effect, drug-drug interactions).

Additional Duties

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support study success and clinic operations.


Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

  • Current nursing license (RN, LPN, LVN) or certification as Paramedic or EMT in the state of Texas.

  • CPR/AED Certification required.

  • ACLS Certification preferred at hire (may be obtained on the job).

Experience

  • 0–1 year of related clinical or research nursing experience.

  • Lead Nurse or Charge Nurse experience is strongly preferred.
