Job Purpose

The Operations Manager for Business Partnering – Strategic Sourcing will play a pivotal role in managing the timely sourcing of materials (chemicals, consumables, reagents, biological products, etc.) while ensuring GMP and regulatory compliance. This role will involve vendor management, strategic sourcing, cost negotiations, and inventory management, focusing on enhancing the operational efficiency of the Strategic Sourcing department.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management

  • Lead sourcing activities for critical materials, including chemicals, reagents, consumables, biological products, etc., from both domestic and global markets.
  • Establish and maintain strategic collaborations with suppliers to ensure consistent supply, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee vendor onboarding, audits, and qualification processes, ensuring adherence to GMP documentation and compliance standards.
  • Negotiate favorable commercial terms with vendors, including pricing, payment terms, and supply timelines, to reduce costs and achieve targeted savings.
  • Manage contracts, bids, and proposals, ensuring that all terms, including material specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules, are aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop strong market intelligence, maintain a comprehensive supplier database, and negotiate effectively for cost reduction and improved terms.

Operations & Inventory Management

  • Manage inventory control and oversee the handling of chemicals, reagents, biological products, and consumables, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing disruptions.
  • Implement effective logistics strategies, including warehousing and transportation, to streamline material flow.
  • Oversee budgeting, planning, and costing processes for the Strategic Sourcing department, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity, including developing alternative sources to avoid single-source dependency.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and promote a culture of safety across the team and vendors.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures for operational processes, including EHSS (Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability) standards.
  • Implement and manage safety training for team members, vendors, service providers, and logistics partners.
  • Track and review safety metrics, ensuring that all mandatory safety training and compliance requirements are met.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business goals and ensure supply meets operational requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and excellent performance.
  • Support cross-functional teams in coordinating sourcing efforts, maintaining quality standards, and reducing operational costs.

Educational Qualifications

  • B.Tech/BE / B. Pharma / Any Graduation with relevant experience.
  • PG in SCM/MM or MBA is an advantage.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of procurement systems, warehousing, and logistics.
  • Familiarity with GMP and non-GMP quality systems, and compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Knowledge of chemicals, biologics, and related products, as well as production processes and cost drivers.
  • Ability to assess suppliers' capabilities in terms of cost, technology, and innovation.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Understanding of EHSS, cGMP, ISO, ESG, and sustainable procurement practices.
