Role Overview

The Medical Writer – Specialist will be responsible for developing high-quality medical and scientific content while managing end-to-end content submission processes in compliance with brand and regulatory guidelines. The role involves translating complex scientific information into clear and engaging communication for healthcare professionals, patients, and broader audiences.

The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, quality assurance of deliverables, mentorship of junior team members, and contribution to strategic content development across multiple communication platforms.


Experience Required

  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in medical writing, healthcare communications, or pharmaceutical advertising.

  • Prior experience in medical content development, scientific writing, or healthcare marketing environments is essential.


Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent qualification.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop medical and scientific content for digital and print platforms targeting healthcare professionals, patients, and consumers.

  • Translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, and engaging communication.

  • Manage end-to-end content submission processes ensuring compliance with brand and regulatory guidelines.

  • Conduct literature reviews and research to support content development.

  • Review and validate scientific content through proofreading, fact-checking, and quality control processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery and content accuracy.

  • Develop a strong understanding of therapeutic areas, disease categories, and brand strategies.

  • Support modular and omnichannel content development, including content matrix and claims documentation.

  • Maintain documentation standards, including referencing and annotation practices.

  • Mentor and guide junior team members and support knowledge-sharing initiatives.

  • Contribute to proposal development and creative ideation for new business opportunities.


Day-to-Day Deliverables

  • Drafting and editing scientific and medical communication materials.

  • Conducting background research and reference searches.

  • Reviewing content for compliance, accuracy, and consistency.

  • Participating in internal and client meetings to align on project objectives.

  • Supporting project timelines and quality standards.

  • Assisting in team development and knowledge management activities.

  • Literature databases such as PubMed.

  • Strong knowledge of scientific referencing and documentation practices.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP).

  • American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) certification or equivalent.
