Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director – Biotechnology/Oncology (NE, KS, MO, AR Region)

Location: United States – Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas | Field-Based | Full-Time

About the Role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director – Oncology serves as a senior, field-based scientific expert responsible for engaging oncology healthcare professionals across the NE, KS, MO, and AR region. This role focuses on scientific exchange, clinical insight gathering, relationship building, and supporting research and medical initiatives within the biotechnology and oncology landscape.

The MSL Director acts as a strategic scientific resource for regional, national, and multidisciplinary oncology stakeholders, advancing scientific understanding while supporting the objectives of Exelixis Medical Affairs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary field contact for Exelixis Medical Affairs within the assigned territory.

  • Engage strategically with regional and national oncology thought leaders, investigators, and healthcare professionals.

  • Deliver accurate, fair, and balanced scientific information to external stakeholders.

  • Manage and evaluate investigator-initiated study (IIS) proposals.

  • Gather and report field insights on competitive intelligence, treatment trends, and scientific perspectives.

  • Support clinical development teams through site identification, feasibility insights, initiation visits, and accrual activities.

  • Participate in and lead advisory board sessions as needed.

  • Conduct internal and external scientific training programs.

  • Represent the company at medical congresses and provide scientific session summaries.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of scientific strategies across the organization.

  • Maintain deep scientific knowledge across oncology compounds, clinical data, and emerging research.

  • Demonstrate excellence in territory management and contribute to broader organizational success.

  • Provide mentorship and serve as a role model for Associate MSLs.


Supervisory Responsibility

None.


Required Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (Oncology PA or NP) with an active pursuit of a doctorate and at least 11 years of related experience; or

  • Accredited doctorate in a life-science or basic-science discipline (PharmD, PhD, DSc, DNP, DO) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience in oncology is preferred.

  • Adaptability and willingness to respond effectively to rapidly changing priorities.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: USD 231,000 – USD 295,500 (varies by U.S. geographic region and experience level).
