Position Overview

IQVIA is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Oncology, West Region to support scientific engagement, clinical research initiatives, and field-based medical activities across assigned territories. This role is essential in strengthening relationships with healthcare professionals, investigators, and key opinion leaders while ensuring scientific excellence, medical accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.

This field-based opportunity offers the chance to work closely with cross-functional teams and lead impactful scientific conversations that support clinical development and contribute to advancing patient care.


Experience Level

Mid–Senior Level
Minimum 3–7 years of MSL, medical affairs, oncology, clinical research, or related pharmaceutical experience.

Oncology MSL experience is strongly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Medical Expertise

  • Serve as a scientific resource for healthcare professionals, investigators, and medical institutions.

  • Communicate clinical data, therapeutic insights, and scientific information in a compliant, non-promotional manner.

  • Deliver high-quality scientific presentations on disease areas and pipeline products to investigators and site staff.

Clinical Trial Support & Field Collaboration

  • Support site management and clinical operations teams during clinical trial initiation, oversight, and follow-up.

  • Partner with investigators and trial sites to understand screening and enrollment challenges and provide medically appropriate solutions.

  • Assist in site selection by recommending qualified investigators and institutions for participation in company-sponsored studies.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and clinical experts.

  • Support advisory board planning and execution.

  • Provide insights from field interactions including competitive intelligence, medical trends, and treatment landscape updates.

Medical Training & Scientific Support

  • Provide disease-area and product-related training to clinical study sites in alignment with compliance standards.

  • Coach scientific speakers and support clinical education initiatives.

  • Assist physicians with compassionate use or named-patient access requests under applicable regulations.

Medical Intelligence & Reporting

  • Gather and report scientific field insights to internal medical and clinical teams.

  • Track investigator and site capabilities for observational studies, investigator-initiated studies (IIS), and company-sponsored trials.

  • Attend scientific meetings and congresses to stay informed on emerging data and represent the organization as required.

Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all interactions and activities adhere to local, national, and global compliance requirements, as well as IQVIA and client policies.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, CRM updates, and timely reporting of medical insights and safety information.

  • Serve as an ambassador for IQVIA and uphold the highest standards of scientific and professional integrity.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or healthcare environment.

  • Advanced understanding of clinical research, medical terminology, and scientific methodologies.

  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to interpret scientific data and engage in high-level medical discussions with clinicians.

  • Experience in oncology therapeutic areas preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a field-based setting.

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, or similar) is advantageous.

Compensation

Annual Base Salary Range:
$200,000 – $265,000 (depending on experience, education, location, and role requirements)
