Position Overview

IQVIA is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to support oncology-focused scientific engagement across the Western United States. This field-based role plays a critical part in strengthening relationships with the medical and scientific community, supporting clinical research activities, and advancing therapeutic knowledge in alignment with global compliance standards.

As an MSL, you will collaborate with investigators, medical institutions, clinical operations teams, and key opinion leaders to drive scientific exchange, support clinical trial enrollment, and ensure accurate dissemination of therapeutic insights. This position is ideal for professionals with strong clinical expertise, oncology experience, and the ability to communicate complex scientific information effectively.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement and Communication

  • Provide field-based scientific support for clinical research programs and pipeline education.

  • Deliver balanced, compliant presentations on therapeutic areas and investigational products.

  • Exchange scientific information with healthcare professionals, investigators, and institutions.

  • Report relevant scientific intelligence, competitive insights, and therapeutic landscape updates to internal teams.

Clinical Trial Support

  • Collaborate with site investigators and staff to identify enrollment barriers and propose medically sound solutions.

  • Assist clinical development teams with site recommendations, initiation visits, communication facilitation, and recruitment support.

  • Support study sites with disease-area training, mechanisms of action, and investigational data.

  • Participate in advisory board preparation and execution.

Stakeholder Partnership and KOL Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with investigators, community physicians, pharmacists, and potential clinical trial partners.

  • Identify, categorize, and engage key opinion leaders within assigned therapeutic areas.

  • Serve as the scientific liaison for investigator-initiated studies and research collaboration opportunities.

Strategic Insights and Field Intelligence

  • Gather insights on treatment trends, clinical challenges, and unmet needs across the therapy area.

  • Maintain updated profiles of potential investigators and institutions for registries, company-sponsored studies, and observational initiatives.

  • Attend relevant conferences, congresses, and scientific meetings, representing the organization when required.

Compliance and Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all interactions strictly adhere to legal, regulatory, and company compliance standards.

  • Maintain accurate CRM entries, timely reporting, and effective territory management.

  • Support compassionate use or named-patient access requests where applicable.

  • Act as an ambassador for IQVIA and uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Professional experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare sector, or equivalent combination of training and scientific education.

  • Strong scientific expertise within oncology or related therapeutic areas.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and scientific exchange capabilities.

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with clinical operations, medical affairs, and commercial teams.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with healthcare providers and scientific partners.

  • Ability to travel across the assigned territory as required.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison, Clinical Educator, or similar scientific role within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.

  • Oncology therapeutic experience strongly preferred, including working knowledge of clinical research and evidence generation.

  • Proven experience engaging KOLs, supporting clinical trials, and presenting complex scientific data.

  • Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Compensation

Annual Base Pay Range: USD 200,000 – USD 265,000
Final compensation is based on experience, location, education, and job-related qualifications. Additional performance incentives, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits may be included.
