Position Overview:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Rheumatology team, covering the Raleigh/Durham Metro area (including parts of South Carolina). The MSL will serve as a key scientific and clinical resource, providing balanced, objective, and relevant scientific information to key stakeholders, including opinion leaders (OLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and internal teams.

This role involves establishing and nurturing professional relationships with key opinion leaders, clinicians, and research teams within the field of rheumatology. As an MSL, you will focus on sharing critical scientific insights, providing research support, and ensuring the accurate communication of Johnson & Johnson’s innovative treatments in this therapeutic area.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Communication & Education:

    • Provide scientific, evidence-based information to healthcare providers (HCPs) and opinion leaders (OLs) within the rheumatology therapeutic area.
    • Stay abreast of current scientific trends and treatment developments, offering insights to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Territory Management:

    • Manage the territory, developing and executing a strategic plan for engagement with HCPs and institutions.
    • Prioritize in-person engagements while also supporting virtual interactions, to ensure a balanced approach to relationship building.
  • Research Support:

    • Support company and investigator-initiated research efforts, offering expertise and fostering collaboration with external research teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Partner with field-based teams to support HCPs in the region, ensuring compliance with healthcare guidelines and providing relevant insights into product pipelines.
  • Field-Based Expertise:

    • Act as a resource for scientific information, addressing any medical inquiries and sharing insights from ongoing research in rheumatology.
  • Travel Requirements:

    • The role involves approximately 70% travel, primarily within the assigned territory. Travel may include overnight stays and occasional weekend commitments.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or other relevant medical degree), or NP (Nurse Practitioner) or PA (Physician Assistant).
  • A minimum of 2+ years of relevant clinical experience in the rheumatology therapeutic area or related clinical experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 70%, including overnight travel and attending congresses/meetings as needed.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Residence within the assigned territory (or willingness to relocate).

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, including clinical research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical experience, with strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge or experience in Immunology and rheumatology preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the use of remote technologies for communication.
  • Ideally based in or near the Raleigh/Durham Metro area, or within the South Carolina region.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range: $113,000 to $195,500.
  • Eligible for annual performance bonus based on individual and corporate performance.
