Role Purpose
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Neuroscience is a field-based medical professional who will develop and maintain in-depth scientific knowledge in the area of neuroscience, specifically related to Lilly’s and competitors’ compounds and current therapeutic landscape. The MSL serves as a critical liaison between Lilly and Scientific Experts, facilitating scientific exchange to shape the future of healthcare by providing essential information to address clinical and scientific questions.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Scientific Knowledge

    • Engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of technical expertise in the therapeutic area of neuroscience.
    • Act as a trusted and reliable resource for unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date medical and scientific information.
    • Respond to complex scientific queries and support medical information needs from Scientific Experts.
  2. Customer Engagement

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Scientific Experts, fostering effective two-way communication.
    • Deliver exceptional customer experiences by understanding and addressing the needs of key stakeholders.
    • Facilitate collaborations between Scientific Experts and Lilly internal teams to promote research and potential collaborations.
  3. Strategic Leadership

    • Synthesize complex clinical data and insights and communicate these effectively to Lilly’s cross-functional teams.
    • Utilize problem-solving skills to develop solutions and escalate issues when necessary.
    • Contribute to medical planning and strategy, collaborating with internal stakeholders across various functions.
  4. Territory Management

    • Demonstrate strong strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization skills to maximize efficiency in managing assigned territory.
    • Take responsibility for the execution of strategic territory plans and ensure the effective and compliant delivery of activities.
    • Continuously evaluate and adjust strategies based on evolving needs and data.
  5. Professional Development

    • Stay current with scientific and industry trends through continuous training and professional development.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal procedures, and external regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Core Education:

    • PharmD, BPharm, MD, or PhD in a medically related field.
    • Or, a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with a minimum of 1 year of clinical, research, or industry experience, preferably in Neurology.
  • Experience:

    • A minimum of 1 year experience in the pharmaceutical field or medical education.
    • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, building and maintaining relationships with medical professionals.
    • Preferred experience in neuroscience or as a Medical Science Liaison, and familiarity with academic communities and the medical research process.
  • Desirable Skills & Expertise:

    • Scientific background or experience in neurology.
    • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to synthesize complex data and provide clear insights.
    • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with emotional intelligence and the ability to engage with key stakeholders.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel: Up to 80% of the time (primarily field-based).
  • Travel may include both domestic and international trips, and occasional evening/weekend work.
