Overview

A global leader in life sciences is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) specializing in Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease to support scientific engagement and enhance medical education across the Northern California region, including Nevada and Arizona. This field-based role focuses on advancing scientific exchange, strengthening relationships with healthcare stakeholders, and supporting clinical and medical initiatives.

Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison will serve as a key scientific expert, providing advanced clinical and product knowledge to healthcare professionals, medical institutions, and internal teams. This position plays a critical role in communicating evidence-based insights, supporting research activities, facilitating educational programs, and contributing to territory medical strategy.

The ideal candidate brings deep therapeutic knowledge in Alzheimer’s Disease, strong analytical capabilities, and a proven ability to build impactful medical relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a scientific resource for healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and managed care organizations (MCOs).

  • Deliver medical and product-related education, including workshops, roundtables, and scientific forums.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships within assigned accounts and territories.

  • Attend and engage in medical congresses to stay current with new data and scientific developments.

Clinical Support & Research Collaboration

  • Support clinical trial activities across all phases, ensuring effective site engagement and coordination.

  • Assist investigators with study-related questions, recruitment support, and protocol-specific needs.

  • Provide scientific insights to internal teams, contributing to product development and strategic decision-making.

Medical Strategy & Territory Planning

  • Develop territory-specific medical plans aligned with Field Medical Affairs objectives.

  • Integrate business acumen with scientific expertise to identify opportunities that advance product utilization and healthcare outcomes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Medical, Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Government Affairs to ensure aligned scientific communication.

Administrative & Compliance Management

  • Complete administrative tasks in accordance with SOPs, policies, and compliance regulations.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of field activities using CRM systems such as VEEVA.

  • Provide timely regional reports, including scientific support activities and budget utilization.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Advanced degree required: PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or managed care environment.

  • Extensive neurology experience strongly preferred, specifically in Alzheimer’s Disease.

  • Experience supporting formulary decisions or health system engagement is an advantage.

  • Proven ability to communicate complex scientific data to diverse healthcare audiences.

  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and relationship-building skills.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel 50–75% overnight.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role with significant regional travel.

  • Requires ongoing interaction with healthcare professionals, clinical sites, and internal medical teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected base salary range: $150,000 – $220,000 annually.

  • Final compensation is based on experience, education, skills, location, and role-specific factors.

  • Eligible for performance incentives, health and welfare benefits, and additional compensation packages depending on position and schedule.
