Position Overview

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Fertility serves as a scientific expert and strategic partner within the Medical Affairs team. This field-based role supports scientific exchange, enhances disease and product understanding, and strengthens partnerships with key healthcare professionals across the Southeast region. The MSL provides advanced clinical and scientific insights in reproductive medicine and fertility, supporting EMD Serono’s mission to deliver meaningful medical advancements for patients.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Provide comprehensive scientific, clinical, and educational support to healthcare providers, academic institutions, and fertility specialists.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and clinical decision makers.

  • Deliver up-to-date therapeutic and disease-area information through peer-to-peer scientific interactions and group educational activities.

Field Medical Leadership

  • Support regional Medical Affairs initiatives and collaborate with national cross-functional teams.

  • Represent the organization at medical congresses, professional meetings, and scientific forums.

  • Partner with US Medical Affairs Fertility teams to implement and advance medical strategies.

Insights & Strategic Contribution

  • Communicate field insights, clinical trends, and competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders.

  • Contribute to research and development discussions and clinical strategy planning.

Clinical Research Support

  • Serve as the primary liaison between investigators and Medical Affairs for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS).

  • Support Clinical Development teams with field activities related to ongoing fertility research studies.

Compliance, Documentation & Territory Management

  • Maintain accurate territory records, including HCP profiles and visit documentation.

  • Ensure compliant use of medical materials and adherence to all regulatory and company standards.

  • Manage territory budgets and monitor expenditures effectively.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 80% regional travel, including overnight travel, national meetings, and occasional international conferences.


Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD, PhD, MD, DO with 2+ years of relevant experience
    OR
    NP/PA with 3+ years of relevant clinical or medical affairs experience.

  • Strong scientific expertise in reproductive medicine and fertility.

  • Proven ability to communicate complex clinical and scientific information across diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated relationship-building and networking capability.

  • Must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, the assigned Southeast territory.

  • Ability to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience in fertility (required for Senior MSL).

  • Prior experience as an MSL or equivalent field medical role.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to foster open communication and cross-functional teamwork.

  • Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions, challenge existing approaches, and drive results with integrity.

  • Experience navigating dynamic environments, streamlining processes, and adapting quickly to change.

  • Commitment to ethical conduct, scientific excellence, and patient-centered decision making.


Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: USD 157,100 – 235,700 (based on location, experience, education, and skillset).
