You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, providing scientific data, facilitating investigator-initiated research, and supporting field-based and internal teams to ensure the successful adoption of our innovative therapies.

As an MSL, you will engage with thought leaders and healthcare professionals (MDs, PAs, NPs, PharmDs) to translate scientific insights into real-world practice. This role requires extensive fieldwork, including up to 60% travel, primarily within your designated geography.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Territory Management:

  • Develop and implement a territory strategic plan, identifying and engaging key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers in your region.
  • Build strong relationships with healthcare institutions, academic medical centers, and community practices to drive education and collaboration on GI therapeutics.
  • Respond promptly to unsolicited scientific inquiries from HCPs, investigators, and other stakeholders, integrating scientific data to address their needs.

Scientific and Research Support:

  • Engage with investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and facilitate connections with R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations teams.
  • Provide clinical trial support, identifying potential research sites and assisting with site initiation visits, resolving site issues, and participating in investigator meetings.
  • Present scientific data at scientific conferences, advisory boards, symposia, and other key stakeholder meetings.

Medical Insights & Education:

  • Actively listen for and document medical insights from external experts, and share these insights internally to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Represent Johnson & Johnson at scientific conferences and symposia, providing educational sessions and presentations on GI products.
  • Continuously update your scientific knowledge through journal clubs, team calls, and independent research on the latest GI treatments and scientific advancements.

Internal Collaboration & Support:

  • Collaborate with internal partners, including Sales, Regulatory, Compliance, and Medical Affairs, to align on scientific strategy and operational goals.
  • Provide training and development support for field teams, helping them stay current on the latest GI product data and clinical advancements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, HCC standards, and company policies in all interactions and activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree (NP, PA) with 2+ years of relevant clinical experience in Gastroenterology, Immunology, or related therapeutic areas.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60-70% of the time, including overnight travel and some weekends.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must reside within the designated geography (Boston, MA area or nearby).

Preferred:

  • 0-2 years of work experience in clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical settings, with strong presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with the GI therapeutic area and Immunology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with remote technologies.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a plus.
