Role Overview:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as an ambassador and advocate for Pfizer science within the healthcare community. The MSL is highly trained to provide scientific and therapeutic information to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Researchers, serving as a credible authority in their therapeutic field. This role primarily focuses on oncology and vaccines, involving extensive engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), researchers, and healthcare organizations to support Pfizer's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Engagement with External Experts:

  • Collaborate with the Medical Lead to develop and implement Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement plans as part of annual objectives.
  • Understand KOL needs and organizational structures to ensure effective communication and relationship-building with healthcare professionals and institutions.
  • Engage in scientific discussions with KOLs and other healthcare professionals regarding Pfizer products, addressing unsolicited inquiries and providing unbiased information based on approved prescribing data.

Knowledge Acquisition and Dissemination:

  • Collect insights and intelligence through regular field interactions, translating these into actionable information for internal teams such as Medical Affairs and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Attend national and regional scientific meetings and advisory boards, sharing key insights and updates relevant to therapeutic areas and Pfizer products.
  • Maintain a high level of scientific expertise regarding therapeutic areas, pre-marketed and approved products, and competitor products.

Knowledge Translation:

  • Deliver non-promotional, scientifically accurate information on the safe and effective use of Pfizer products to KOLs and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support Medical Lead and other teams (e.g., Patient Access, Government Relations) with scientific/medical information as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of regional Medical Education programs, including speaker training and content development.

Clinical Research Support:

  • Assess the KOL’s and their institution’s capabilities for clinical research and facilitate Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) and Collaborative Research (CR) studies in compliance with Pfizer’s policies and regulations.
  • Support the submission and management of IIR/CR proposals, promoting the publication of relevant studies in collaboration with internal teams.

Non-Promotional Scientific Information:

  • Engage in scientific exchange through activities such as advisory boards, medical congresses, and continuing professional development (CPD) events, ensuring that all interactions are aligned with Pfizer's non-promotional guidelines.
  • Provide scientific background for formulary decisions, treatment guidelines, and public health programs, contributing to scientific education for healthcare providers and formulary committees.

Medical Governance and Compliance:

  • Stay current with global and local SOPs, Rx & D guidelines, and the Medical Governance framework, ensuring all activities comply with medical governance standards and Pfizer’s Corporate Code of Ethics.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Medical Degree (MD, MBBS), Pharmacy Degree, PhD, or Master's level degree in health sciences (recognized qualifications in medicine or pharmacy are required).
  • Experience: Prior experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or similar roles, with a strong understanding of clinical research methodology and scientific judgment.
  • Travel: The role requires upwards of 75% travel to manage the assigned geography effectively.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages is preferred but not essential.

Work Location:

  • This is a Field-Based position, requiring extensive travel across the assigned geography.
