Position Overview
The Medical Information Specialist (MIS) is part of the Medical Information Contact Center. The role involves responding to medical/safety information requests and handling adverse events, product complaints, and special situations in compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and ProPharma/client policies.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Information Service Delivery
Respond to unsolicited requests for medical/safety information from healthcare professionals, consumers, and external customers (via phone, email, website, fax, letters, or meetings).
Provide accurate responses (labeled and unlabeled) per regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client policies.
Document and report adverse events, pregnancy cases, product complaints, and special situation events in line with regulations and SOPs/WPs.
Complete tasks within agreed timelines (SOPs & WPs).
Use approved labeling, published literature, and company data to prepare responses; assist with writing custom responses.
Accurately log all inquiries into Inquiry Handling Systems.
Quality Assurance
Maintain quality standards across all tasks.
Perform quality checks on adverse events, product complaints, correspondence, and logged inquiries.
General Responsibilities
Provide after-hours coverage on a rotational basis (as required).
Ensure compliance with data privacy policies and confidentiality agreements.
Follow company health and safety policies.
Perform other delegated tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
Degree in Life Sciences, Nursing (RN/BS/BA/MS), or Pharmacy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including proofreading, telephone etiquette, empathetic customer service).
Fluent, grammatically correct writing in English (mandatory).
Knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, regulations, and industry standards.
Strong reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Ability to multitask under time constraints with strong attention to detail.
Proactive with problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset.
Able to accept feedback, learn quickly, and take responsibility for assigned work.
Self-motivated with initiative and drive; willing to take on additional workload.
Effective in both independent and team settings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems.
Ability to learn other systems, including inquiry handling databases.
