Job Purpose

The MEGO leads the therapeutic area (TA) IME strategy by evaluating grant requests, ensuring alignment with corporate and medical education goals, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. This role enables the development of quality programs that address evidence-based healthcare gaps, improving HCP knowledge, competence, performance, and healthcare system processes.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Business Planning & Therapeutic Area Grant Strategy

Identify evidence-based healthcare gaps and develop strategies leveraging IME to address them.

Collaborate with Medical Affairs, GMAO, Commercial, Market Research, Health Outcomes, Advocacy, and other stakeholders to develop and implement TA IME grant strategy and budget.

Manage relationships with Alliance partner grant offices to ensure alignment and effective execution of grant strategy.

Ensure communication and alignment with Business Unit (BU) leadership.

2. Business Management & Grant Execution

Execute TA IME grant strategy and manage multi-million-dollar budgets.

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners, external education providers, and industry experts.

Utilize Lilly Grant Office systems, platforms, and tools to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Identify and propose process improvement ideas for internal and external impact.

Review grant requests, lead TA grant committee meetings, and facilitate informed decision-making.

Oversee Request for Proposal (RFP) development, legal review, and response submissions.

Gain and maintain understanding of disease state, treatment options, and educational needs in the assigned TA.

Evaluate outcomes data to ensure programs are delivered as planned and achieve expected impact.

Share outcomes to communicate the value and impact of IME programs internally.

3. Industry Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

Lead development of tools and best practices for quality improvement in medical education.

Advocate for Adult Learning Principles, Instructional Design, Learning Science, and innovative educational programming.

Lead special projects and share best practices across Lilly and the broader industry.

Manage strategic relationships with external partners and stakeholders.

Volunteer for industry boards, committees, or act as faculty at industry conferences.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities

Serve as company-wide expert consultant on internal and external grant guidelines/regulations.

Ensure business processes comply with all applicable laws and industry regulations, including ACCME, FDA, and OIG.

Participate in external initiatives and industry groups (e.g., Alliance for Continuing Education in Healthcare, CME Coalition, EU-CME).

Basic Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.

5+ years in an educational role (e.g., HCP education, speaker training, patient education).

Must be authorized to work in the United States full-time; visa sponsorship is not available.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Critical thinking and strategic planning abilities, with the ability to influence upward.

Experience in compliance-driven environments.

Expertise in ACCME, FDA, OIG, and other CME/educational guidelines.

Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and quality improvement/implementation science.

Ability to evaluate scientific references and determine relevance for educational initiatives.

Global experience preferred.

Additional Information

Travel required: ~20% (including some weekends for program monitoring).

Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated salary: $122,250 – $179,300 (full-time equivalent).

Eligibility for company bonus based on individual and company performance.
