Position Overview:

The Medical Editor will review and copyedit medical (non-promotional) and promotional materials across various therapeutic areas and brands. The role ensures adherence to quality standards, including Customer Information Quality (CIQ) and Medical Content Approval (MCA) requirements, and contributes to the efficiency of the review process through various tools and platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Copyediting and Proofreading:
    • Review promotional and medical content for alignment with CIQ and MCA standards.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Medical, etc.) in content approval and management.
    • Ensure consistency in language, grammar, style, and scientific accuracy.
    • Apply style guides like AMA Manual of Style/Chicago Manual of Style for reviewing content.
    • Identify flaws in logic, flow, and reference compliance.
  • Quality Assurance and Process Improvement:
    • Ensure timely and efficient review of materials while adhering to quality standards.
    • Support organizational project management best practices, including tracking deviations and resolving recurring issues.
    • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and contribute to shared learning across teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 2-4 years of experience in editing or copyediting medical and promotional content.
    • Familiarity with style guides such as AMA Manual of Style and Chicago Manual of Style.
    • Strong understanding of scientific/medical terminologies.
    • Experience in collaborating on cross-functional teams.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and critical thinking.
    • Proficiency with tools like Veeva Vault, Wrike, and MS Project.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific, health, communications, or related field.

Additional Preferences:

  • In-depth familiarity with US CIQ/MCA processes and tools.
  • Experience in reviewing/writing Medical Affairs communications (e.g., slide decks, HCP materials).
  • Knowledge in therapeutic areas like neuroscience, oncology, or immunology.
