Salary:
$154,900 – $431,500 annually

Position Overview:
IQVIA is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to join as Medical Director. This role blends medical monitoring with strategic medical input, offering an opportunity to contribute scientific and clinical expertise to drug development and trial delivery across global projects. Ideal for experienced professionals from pharma, CRO, or clinical backgrounds with a passion for advancing gastrointestinal research and patient care through clinical trials.


Key Responsibilities:

Medical Monitoring:

  • Act as Global or Regional Medical Advisor for assigned trials

  • Provide guidance to project leaders on medical and scientific issues

  • Support investigative sites with protocol questions and patient eligibility concerns

  • Review protocols, IDBs, CRFs, patient narratives, and clinical study reports

  • Clarify adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs), including coding review

  • Offer therapeutic training to clinical project teams

  • Participate in Investigator Meetings and team/client discussions

  • Respond to urgent site-related queries as needed

Medical Strategy & Business Development:

  • Develop delivery strategies for complex, multi-region studies

  • Assist in proposal development and budget planning for medical monitoring

  • Review protocols for scientific soundness and regulatory feasibility

  • Contribute to identification of principal investigators and patient recruitment planning

  • Attend bid defense meetings and support client presentations

  • Monitor industry trends and participate in publication activities

  • Travel up to 5% (regional/international)


Required Qualifications:

  • MD degree from an accredited institution

  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology (mandatory)

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice in gastroenterology

  • At least 2 years of experience in clinical trials (Pharma, CRO, Biotech, or investigator role)

  • Strong understanding of clinical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of GI therapeutics

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and independently with global teams
