Job Overview:

IQVIA is seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist to serve as Medical Director, offering medical, clinical, and scientific advisory expertise across all divisions. This position includes medical monitoring of clinical trials and strategic support for business development activities. The Medical Director acts as a subject matter expert throughout the clinical project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

🩺 Medical Monitoring (Primary Responsibilities):

  • Serve as Global and/or Regional Medical Advisor for assigned projects.

  • Act as Scientific Advisor, guiding Project Leaders on medical/scientific aspects.

  • Provide support to investigative sites and project teams on:

    • Protocol clarifications

    • Eligibility criteria (inclusion/exclusion)

    • Patient safety concerns

  • Review and provide feedback on:

    • Protocols

    • Investigator Drug Brochures (IDBs)

    • Case Report Forms (CRFs)

  • Deliver therapeutic area training for project teams.

  • Present at Investigator Meetings and team/client meetings.

  • Clarify and review Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAEs), including:

    • Case documentation

    • Patient narratives (with Pharmacovigilance)

    • AE coding and Analysis of Similar Events (AOSE)

  • Participate in Clinical Study Report (CSR) preparation and review.

  • Be available for urgent protocol-related queries from sites.


📊 Medical Strategy (Secondary Responsibilities):

  • Develop and advise on strategic medical delivery plans for regional/global studies.

  • Provide medical input on client proposals, including budget planning for medical monitoring.

  • Evaluate protocols for:

    • Regulatory/scientific feasibility

    • Recruitment potential

    • Investigator/site suitability

    • Competitive landscape and standard of care

  • Support business development through:

    • Bid defense presentations

    • Client meetings

  • Stay up to date with industry trends; contribute to internal and external publications.


Travel Requirement:

  • Occasional regional/international travel up to 5%


Qualifications:

🎓 Education:

  • Medical Degree (MD) from an accredited, internationally recognized institution

📜 Certifications:

  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology (Required)

📆 Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice in Gastroenterology

  • Preferred: 2+ years of clinical trials experience in Pharma, CRO, or Biotech industry

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Broad knowledge of:

    • Scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial trends

    • Therapeutic landscape in gastroenterology

Compensation:

💰 Estimated Annual Base Pay Range:
$154,900 – $431,500 USD

Actual salary may vary depending on experience, qualifications, location, and job specifics. Compensation may include bonuses, incentive plans, and a comprehensive benefits package.
