Medical Coding Analyst

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement updates from AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines.

  • Review and analyze medical records to add/modify CPT codes for minor surgical procedures, vaccines, and laboratory services per documentation.

  • Extract and code screening CPT codes and HCPCS codes accurately.

  • Check and apply NCCI edits, and LCD & NCD coverage determinations; modify ICD-10-CM codes, CPT codes, and modifiers as needed.

  • Contribute to team effectiveness by offering constructive inputs for improved quality and productivity.

  • Organize and prioritize workload to ensure coding accuracy and timely resolution of edits in compliance with regulatory and client requirements.

  • Maintain data confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.

  • Follow employment terms, company policies, and any role-related directives including changes in work location, team structure, shift, and work environment based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree.

  • Certified through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC – any one is acceptable).

  • Must present valid certification ID during the interview or offer process.

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.

  • Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.

  • Knowledge of data security policies and practices.
