Role Overview

As a Material Compliance Manager, you will oversee the materials review process for designated business units and products. You will ensure that all promotional materials comply with Amgen’s Material Approval Committee (MAC) policies, maintaining neutrality while balancing the needs of all stakeholders.

You will act as the key liaison between sponsors, reviewers, and cross-functional partners, ensuring quality, compliance, and consistency in material review operations.


Key Responsibilities

Process Leadership & Compliance

  • Manage and oversee the MAC review process for assigned business units/products.

  • Lead and implement MAC process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and compliance.

  • Ensure all required promotional materials complete the MAC review in alignment with regulatory and internal standards.

Stakeholder Management

  • Represent Material Compliance in process discussions with sponsors and reviewers.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors, reviewers, agencies, and third-party partners.

  • Collaborate closely with Material Compliance Associates (MCA) on MAC business and compliance operations.

Guidance & Strategy

  • Translate business priorities into material approval strategies that align with Amgen’s objectives.

  • Ensure MAC business rules are followed by both reviewers and project sponsors.

  • Anticipate process issues (e.g., due to product launches or regulatory changes) and provide timely solutions.

  • Provide direction and mentorship to cross-functional MAC team members.

Governance & Escalation

  • Drive adherence to Amgen review guidelines, MAC Policy, and relevant external regulations.

  • Facilitate MAC-related meetings and address stakeholder concerns.

  • Use discretion to decide which issues to escalate and manage resolutions with senior/executive management.

  • Provide training and support on the use of Amgen’s MAC electronic approval system.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

One of the following educational and experience combinations:

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree + 2 years of process, compliance, and/or project management experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of relevant experience OR

  • Associate’s degree + 8 years of relevant experience OR

  • High school diploma/GED + 10 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in process management, compliance, and project leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability in negotiation, persuasion, collaboration, and analytical decision-making.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence executive leadership.

  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Proven track record in process development and improvement.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.

  • Supervisory experience and capability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to clearly explain complex compliance concepts to diverse audiences.
