Job Overview:

The Team Lead – Scientific Writing will provide functional and operational direction to the assigned therapeutic area(s) (TA). This role will act as a strategic thought partner to the TA Scientific Communication Lead, lead a team of writers (junior to expert), and ensure effective collaboration with stakeholders. The Team Lead will also contribute to the development and execution of publication and communication plans and drive process improvements in scientific writing.


Key Responsibilities:

People Management:

  • Lead a team of writers (junior to expert levels) and similar roles in content creation.
  • Coach and develop expert and senior writers on content creation, methods, and processes.
  • Foster effective relationships with stakeholders within the allocated TA/GBU and product to develop education and communication content.
  • Ensure the leveraging of new technologies to improve processes and outcomes.

Performance Management:

  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the assigned TA within the GBU.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in the assigned TA and stay updated on industry trends and developments.
  • Provide input for publication and communication plans, medical education materials, and other strategic deliverables.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of projects, meeting agreed-upon timelines and standards.
  • Lead and support the development of tools, technologies, and processes to improve quality and productivity.

Process Management:

  • Support the delivery of projects in terms of resourcing, quality, timeliness, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the overall quality enhancement of scientific documents, clinical/medical reports, and other deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain high scientific standards for output produced by the scientific writing group.
  • Lead the creation of tools and processes to enhance quality and productivity.
  • Utilize advanced training tools and techniques to enhance training effectiveness.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate closely with scientific communication teams across regions/areas to identify publication needs and contribute to the development of deliverables.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the development of relevant and timely education and communication content.

About You:

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in content creation for the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry or academia.
  • More than 6 years of experience in a leadership role with a proven ability to influence and negotiate.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong people management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in multiple therapeutic areas (TAs) under one GBU.
  • Proficient in scientific writing, medical communications, and publication planning.
  • Experience in project management is an advantage.

Education:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or similar discipline, or a Medical degree.

Languages:

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
