Job Description – Medical Affairs Lead, Emerging Markets

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced medical leader to head Medical Affairs across Emerging Markets (EM). This role is pivotal in advancing therapy area leadership, enabling product access, driving impactful scientific initiatives, evaluating new products, strengthening KOL (Key Opinion Leader) engagement, guiding evidence generation, and ensuring compliance in medico-marketing activities. The incumbent will also provide strategic support to marketing and cross-functional teams to align with business goals.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Governance & Compliance

  • Review and approve promotional materials, ensuring compliance with SOPs and regulations, with a target turnaround of 90% approvals within 2–5 working days.

  • Oversee medico-marketing activities, including print/digital input approvals, speaker selection, FMV decisions, and evaluation of participation criteria.

Scientific Engagement & Events

  • Organize and manage webinars, CMEs, ISPs, advisory board meetings, and preceptorship programs across EM countries.

  • Prepare scientific agendas, curate literature, develop presentations, and coordinate with faculty for ISPs.

  • Conduct Advisory Board meetings to capture KOL insights for new and existing products.

Strategic Medical Support

  • Develop and implement medical strategies for new product launches and provide strategic inputs for existing products.

  • Contribute to communication development for therapy areas and brands.

  • Provide medical rationale and analysis for product selection to Business Development, Portfolio, and CoE teams.

Evidence Generation & Publications

  • Lead evidence generation initiatives and oversee publications for major products across EM.

  • Develop target product profiles for differentiated products, including rationale, pharmacokinetics, and clinical endpoints.

  • Prepare and present medical rationale to internal approval committees and regulatory authorities.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Conduct training sessions and prepare scientific materials for new launches and updates on existing products.

  • Compile and circulate conference highlights, scientific updates, and therapy area insights to CoE and marketing teams.

Digital & Innovation Support

  • Support and oversee digital activities, including medical websites, video reviews, digital content quality checks, and website launches.

  • Drive webinars/CMEs and scientific content for digital platforms such as Medznat in APAC countries.


Qualifications

Education:

  • M.D. (Doctor of Medicine)

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–8 years of relevant experience in reputed pharmaceutical companies

  • Strong background in GLP-1 therapy area

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research and regulatory standards.

  • Proven experience in medical strategy development, new product launches, and evidence generation.

  • Ability to evaluate new products and enhance therapy area portfolios.

  • Strong expertise in organizing scientific events and advisory boards.

  • Proficiency in managing digital medical activities (websites, content review, digital approvals).

  • Skilled in conducting training sessions and preparing scientific materials.
