Job Overview

Fortrea is seeking a Lab Shipping Coordinator to join our team in Madison, WI. This role involves coordinating and ensuring the processing, storage, and shipment of clinical samples according to protocol requirements. As part of a global leader in clinical research, you will support pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in a critical phase of drug development, impacting patient care worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sample Handling & Shipping:
    • Prepare, label, store, pack, and ship clinical samples in compliance with federal regulations.
    • Learn and apply international shipping procedures for biohazardous and dangerous goods.
    • Track and document sample shipments and organize dispatch dates.
    • Formulate specimen codes, print labels, and set up specimen containers.
  • Specimen Collection & Maintenance:
    • Collect body substances (blood, saliva, urine, etc.) for testing in approved manners using universal precautions.
    • Assist with the maintenance and calibration of clinical equipment.
    • Monitor and organize refrigerator and freezer space for sample storage.
    • Arrange for sample archiving as required and operate centrifuges.
  • Documentation & Quality Control:
    • Complete and ensure all shipping documentation is accurate.
    • Assist with quality control of laboratory equipment and data collection.
    • Perform other duties as assigned, including overtime and weekend work if necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • Fortrea may consider relevant experience in lieu of educational requirements.
  • Experience:
    • Previous clinical experience is ideal, but not required. Open to considering recent graduates or those with clinical experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constant changes and tight deadlines.
    • Team-oriented with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
