Job Overview:

The Junior Executive will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the Discovery Chemistry department, specifically in the monitoring and maintenance of lab activities outside of regular working hours. This role involves ensuring safety and efficiency in laboratory operations, preparing materials, and handling emergency situations when necessary.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Reaction Monitoring & Lab Support:

    • Monitor overnight reactions and lab hydrogenation reactions after working hours.
    • Attend to lab activities including filling and preparing inorganic chemicals relevant to lab operations.
    • Provide necessary gases (oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide, ammonia) to lab scientists as required.
  • Safety & Emergency Response:

    • Quench toxic materials and safely transport them to the quenching station.
    • Ensure the monitoring and recording of cold room temperatures in the laboratory.
    • Respond to unexpected incidents and emergencies in the lab environment.
  • Equipment & Instrument Management:

    • Monitor and ensure that instruments and equipment are switched off when not in use to maintain safety and prevent energy wastage.
  • Solvent & Scrubber Solution Preparation:

    • Oversee fresh solvent filling activities.
    • Prepare scrubber solutions for various lab areas including column hoods, walk-in hoods, HTS labs, and ADC labs.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Relevant educational background in chemistry or related fields.
  • Experience:
    • No prior experience required, but any relevant lab experience or knowledge of lab operations is a plus.

    • Careful monitoring of lab conditions and response to any safety or operational issues.

    • Ability to work independently during non-working hours, maintaining safety and operational efficiency.
