🧠 Position Overview

The Institutional & Specialty Sales Consultant (ISS) plays a pivotal role in launching and driving growth for the Cardiovascular-Renal (CVR) portfolio. This individual will focus on education, clinical demand generation, and formulary access within priority hospitals, health systems, and community practices, particularly with cardiologists and nephrologists.

This is a field-based position, and the territory includes Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and Harrisonburg, VA. Candidates must reside within the territory and be open to travel up to 50%.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Clinical Demand & Education:
    Educate healthcare professionals and business stakeholders on CVR product benefits and clinical data in institutional and community settings.

  • Formulary Access & Protocol Integration:
    Develop institutional advocates and secure formulary/pathway/protocol adoption.

  • Strategic Business Planning:
    Design and execute account-specific business plans tailored to top-priority institutions based on local dynamics.

  • Relationship Building:
    Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., C/D-Suite executives, pharmacy heads, quality leads, cardiologists, nephrologists).

  • P&T Process Management:
    Navigate and support the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) process at target institutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Work with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, and Area Customer Squad to pull through strategic initiatives.

  • Technology Utilization:
    Embrace digital tools and CRM technologies to enhance performance and territory insights.

  • Compliance & Ethics:
    Ensure all activities are compliant with industry regulations and Bayer standards.


👤 Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and/or renal therapeutic areas

  • Proven launch experience (new product or indication)

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills

  • Ability to manage deadlines and high-pressure situations

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Willing and able to meet credentialing/safety requirements (e.g., vaccinations)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or Business (MBA, PharmD, etc.)

  • 5+ years of successful pharmaceutical/biotech/medical sales experience

  • Experience selling in institutional and clinic settings

  • Skilled in navigating P&T committee processes and hospital-to-outpatient protocol transitions


💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $118,065 – $177,097
    (dependent on location, experience, education, and other factors)

  • Additional Compensation: Bonus or commission eligible (if applicable)
