Fortrea, one of the world’s leading Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), is seeking a Dietary Coordinator to join our Phase 1 Clinical Research Unit in Madison, WI. This role offers hands-on exposure to early-phase clinical trials, including first-in-human, ascending dose, food effect, and drug-drug interaction studies.

The Dietary Coordinator will interact directly with healthy volunteer participants, support nutritional management of clinical studies, and ensure adherence to strict dietary protocols. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented role ideal for individuals passionate about clinical research, patient safety, and nutrition management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement study-specific dietary requirements as outlined by clinical coordinators.

  • Collaborate with dietitians to ensure nutritional guidance aligns with study protocols.

  • Place dietary orders with approved vendors and coordinate the delivery of dietary supplies.

  • Maintain dietary supply inventory and cost records to support efficient operations.

  • Supervise and schedule Dietary Assistants to ensure smooth workflow.

  • Maintain soft drink and ancillary dietary inventories as required.

  • Support corporate and departmental initiatives as assigned.

  • Perform additional duties related to clinical study dietary management.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Food Service Certification preferred.

  • 1–2 years of experience in dietary management, food service, or clinical research support.

  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including data entry, word processing, and email systems.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow study-specific instructions and documentation.

  • Ability to work effectively under strict timelines and in a fast-paced, protocol-driven environment.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize changing tasks.

  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment with electronic data capture systems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced clinical research setting with direct participant interaction.

  • Primarily on-site in Madison, WI with occasional evening or weekend shifts.

  • Involves standing, walking, and lifting up to 15–20 lbs.

  • Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes while maintaining protocol compliance.
