Job Summary:

The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist Team Lead oversees the preparation and storage of all hazardous medications, ensuring compliance with USP 800 requirements, professional standards, and relevant laws and regulations. This role includes acting as the pharmacy department's USP 800 Designee and providing oversight of hazardous handling within Dayton Children's. The Team Lead is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and serves as an expert consultant in oncology and supportive care/symptom management. The Team Lead collaborates closely with the inpatient pharmacy, Hematology/Oncology Staff, and Clinical Hem/Onc Pharmacists to ensure safe, optimal care for oncology patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and storage of all hazardous medications in compliance with USP 800 standards.
  • Act as the pharmacy department’s USP 800 Designee, ensuring entity compliance with USP 800 regulations.
  • Ensure all pharmacy personnel are trained and competent in medication preparation processes according to USP 800, professional standards, and legal requirements.
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Serve as an expert consultant in oncology and supportive care/symptom management.
  • Collaborate with inpatient pharmacy, Hematology/Oncology Staff, and Clinical Hem/Onc Pharmacists to optimize safe and effective care for patients.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree (required).
  • Certification/Licensure:
    • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) in the state of Ohio, as required by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time schedule (40 hours per week).
  • Complies with relevant standards and regulations, including USP 800.
