Hematology/Oncology Operations Supervisor at Dayton Children's - Main Campus

Job Summary:

The Hematology/Oncology Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation and storage of hazardous medications in compliance with USP 800 requirements. This individual ensures all pharmacy personnel are adequately trained and competent in the medication preparation process, and that operations adhere to professional standards, laws, and regulations. The supervisor will also act as the pharmacy department’s USP 800 designee, ensuring compliance with USP 800 guidelines and overseeing hazardous medication handling within the Dayton Children’s organization.

In addition to this, the supervisor will provide expert pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role collaborates closely with the inpatient pharmacy, Hematology/Oncology staff, and clinical Hematology/Oncology pharmacists to ensure optimal and safe care for patients, particularly in oncology and supportive care/symptom management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and storage of all hazardous medications, ensuring compliance with USP 800 requirements.
  • Act as the pharmacy department’s USP 800 Designee to maintain compliance with hazardous handling protocols.
  • Ensure that pharmacy personnel are adequately trained in hazardous medication handling.
  • Collaborate with inpatient pharmacy and Hematology/Oncology staff to provide optimal care.
  • Serve as an expert consultant within the specialty practice areas of oncology and supportive care.
  • Supervise the medication preparation process in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Licensure: Registered Pharmacist (RPh) with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
