Job Details:

The Hematology/Oncology Operations Supervisor oversees the preparation and storage of all hazardous medications, ensuring compliance with USP 800 and the professional standards of practice. This role ensures that pharmacy personnel are properly trained and competent in the medication preparation process in accordance with USP 800 requirements, laws, rules, and regulations. The supervisor will also act as the pharmacy department’s USP 800 Designee, ensuring entity compliance with USP 800 and overseeing hazardous handling within Dayton Children's Organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • USP 800 Compliance: Act as the USP 800 Designee for the pharmacy department to ensure compliance with USP 800 guidelines regarding the preparation and storage of hazardous medications.
  • Hazardous Medication Oversight: Oversee the preparation and handling of hazardous medications for oncology patients.
  • Pharmaceutical Care: Provide pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring optimal and safe care.
  • Collaboration with Clinical Teams: Serve as an expert consultant in oncology and supportive care/symptom management, working collaboratively with the inpatient pharmacy and Hematology/Oncology staff and Clinical Hem/Onc Pharmacists.
  • Training and Competency: Ensure all pharmacy staff are adequately trained and competent in medication preparation and handling procedures in line with regulatory requirements.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree is required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) in the state of Ohio - Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of oncology pharmacy practices.
  • Familiarity with USP 800 guidelines for hazardous medication handling and preparation.
