Head – Production Planning & Inventory Control

Location: Baddi, Himachal Pradesh

Job Summary:

A leading pharmaceutical company in Baddi is hiring a Head – Production Planning & Inventory Control with 18+ years of experience in managing end-to-end material planning, warehouse operations, procurement, and SAP integration. This senior role is responsible for aligning operations with manufacturing goals, optimizing inventory, improving supply chain performance, and maintaining compliance with GMP and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be experienced in SAP APO, production scheduling, warehouse audits, and vendor development within the pharmaceutical domain.


Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Inventory Control:

  • Manage material requirement planning and release PRs for RM/PM

  • Compute material shortages and coordinate procurement with the purchase team

  • Review line schedules in SAP/APO; troubleshoot issues

  • Ensure timely execution of production plans with production and packaging departments

  • Lead weekly meetings across departments for updates on new products and materials

  • Drive cost optimization and implement consumption plans to avoid write-offs

  • Oversee annual budget preparation, reconciliation, and variance analysis

Warehouse Management:

  • Lead inbound & outbound logistics; ensure same-day GRNs

  • Maintain accurate stock records and approved storage conditions

  • Oversee WH audits, layout optimization, and space utilization

  • Manage FIFO and cycle count processes; analyze and act on variances

  • Ensure full compliance with warehouse SOPs and regulatory requirements

  • Supervise scrap management and environmental standards

Procurement:

  • End-to-end responsibility for RM/PM procurement for Baddi site

  • Negotiate with suppliers, manage cost-effective purchases

  • Maintain material availability aligned with monthly production plans

  • Engage with regulatory bodies (e.g., Narcotics Department) for compliance

  • Drive eProcurement initiatives and vendor development

  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring full documentation and policy adherence

People Management:

  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams

  • Set team KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews

  • Identify training needs and organize capacity-building initiatives


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years of pharma industry experience

  • MBA (Operations) / B. Pharma / M. Pharma / B. Tech

  • Proficiency in SAP R/3 and APO

  • Deep understanding of GMP, WH compliance, and procurement policy

  • Strong leadership, cross-functional coordination, and communication skills

  • Experience in audit readiness, cost control, and strategic planning

  • Proven ability in data-driven inventory control and risk mitigation
