Position Overview:

Roche is looking for a Global Head of Drug Delivery Technologies to lead a team of scientists/engineers within the Pharma Technical Development (PTD) organization. This role will play a crucial part in developing and advancing novel drug delivery technologies that will help improve clinical outcomes, reduce patient treatment burden, and enhance the competitiveness of Roche's drug products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:

    • Build and lead a world-class team of scientists and engineers focused on evaluating and developing innovative drug delivery technologies for global markets.
    • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, and maintain a high-performing team capable of driving technological advancements in drug delivery systems.
  • Technology Development & Innovation:

    • Scout and assess novel drug delivery technologies that can benefit patients through ease of use, improved pharmacokinetics, and more effective treatment options.
    • Integrate new delivery technologies into Roche's clinical development portfolio and provide guidance on experimental results and future studies.
  • Collaboration & Alliances:

    • Establish and maintain collaborations with internal and external partners, including academic institutions, technology developers, and industry leaders.
    • Foster relationships with cross-functional teams within Roche to ensure alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Scientific Leadership:

    • Serve as a thought leader in drug delivery technologies, overseeing the technical evaluation and preclinical proof of concept studies.
    • Present findings and contribute to publications to position Roche as a leader in drug delivery innovations.
  • Strategic Impact:

    • Lead the strategic direction of drug delivery technology development, ensuring alignment with the needs of the business, clinical development, and research teams.
    • Provide insights and guidance on advancing technologies into clinical application while driving competitive advantage in the market.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    • A Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline is preferred, though candidates with equivalent experience are also considered.
  • Experience:

    • At least 10 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with significant focus and expertise in drug delivery technologies.
    • Proven track record of leading successful drug delivery programs and driving innovation in drug formulation and delivery systems.
    • Extensive experience collaborating across corporate divisions (scientific, medical, commercial, portfolio management).
  • Leadership Skills:

    • Exceptional team management and leadership experience in building high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Proven ability to manage global or international projects, align organizations, and drive innovation in complex environments.
  • Strategic & Business Acumen:

    • Strong strategic thinking with a business-oriented mindset, including budget and financial management experience.
    • Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively with internal and external collaborators.
  • Communication & Collaboration:

    • Effective communication skills with proficiency in English (written and verbal).
    • Proven experience in leading international collaborations and managing relationships with external stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel:
    • National and international travel (approximately 10-15%).
