Role Objective:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join Takeda Austria as the Head of Medical Affairs. This key leadership role involves overseeing the medical team’s strategic direction, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and corporate values, and driving Takeda’s vision at the local level. The Head of Medical Affairs will play an essential role in fostering cross-departmental collaboration and patient safety while contributing to business success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:

    • Lead the local medical team and contribute to the overall strategic roadmap for the country organization.
    • Ensure alignment of medical plans with company strategy and ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Develop and retain top talent in the medical department through training and career development.
    • Act as an ambassador for Takeda’s values and corporate philosophy within the organization.
  • Medical Affairs & Scientific Leadership:

    • Develop strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), medical, clinical, academic communities, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with Global and EUCAN Compliance Standards for non-commercial processes.
    • Oversee the development and execution of local medical plans, publications, Advisory Board meetings, and more.
    • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Business Units, Market Access) to align on strategies.
    • Act as Takeda’s spokesperson on medical topics with local authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Clinical Research & Patient Services:

    • Oversee the development and execution of clinical research plans, including interventional, non-interventional, and Real World Evidence (RWE) studies.
    • Ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and high-quality execution of local clinical studies.
    • Support the development and implementation of patient services programs across all brands, working closely with both local and global stakeholders.
  • Budget Management and Compliance:

    • Oversee budget management for the medical department, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Ensure the team adheres to Takeda’s SOPs, local laws, and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:

    • Medical Degree is preferred but not required. Clinical practice experience is a plus.
    • At least 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role managing a team.
  • Skills and Expertise:

    • Strong understanding of medical compliance, ethics, and industry regulations.
    • Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
    • Advanced communication skills to build relationships with KOLs, policy makers, scientific societies, and other external stakeholders.
    • Strong business acumen and project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Fluency in both German and English is a must.

    • Ability to navigate complex situations while balancing regulations, business needs, and ethical standards.

Compensation:
The minimum salary for this role is €9,000 gross/month (full-time). The actual salary package will be determined based on professional experience and qualifications.
