Role Overview

AbbVie is seeking a Head of Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) to lead the strategic development and implementation of medical education programs across key therapeutic areas. This senior leadership role will oversee scientific content development, trainer programs, and performance measurement to advance HCP education and engagement. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, leadership, and a deep understanding of clinical and scientific practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Medical Education (30%)

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for AMI programs aligned with business goals.

  • Collaborate with ISM, Marketing, and Medical Affairs to define program objectives and frameworks.

  • Execute tactics to enhance HCP education and product knowledge.

Scientific Content Development (15%)

  • Create and adapt centrally approved scientific and clinical training materials for in-country workshops.

  • Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to ensure materials are current and relevant.

Trainer Development & Deployment (20%)

  • Conduct mapping of trainer expertise and identify new trainers.

  • Develop deployment plans to engage trainers for clinical projects, podium presentations, and workshops.

  • Continuously update training curricula for ongoing skill development.

Program Measurement & Optimization (10%)

  • Measure the effectiveness of AMI programs and present insights to stakeholders.

  • Benchmark and modify program delivery to maintain industry-leading standards.

Product Knowledge & Market Insight (10%)

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Allergan products and competitive pipeline.

  • Support initiatives for patient and physician programs ensuring compliance with medical and marketing standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance (15%)

  • Collaborate with marketing and country managers to integrate scientific content in initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to AbbVie’s Code of Ethics, compliance policies, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree or equivalent in life sciences, pharmacy, or related scientific field.

  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or medical education roles, including leadership of medical training programs.

  • Proven ability to discuss scientific data with senior clinicians and colleagues.

  • Strong leadership and people development skills; experience in cross-functional team management.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently within India.

  • Strong ethical standards with compliance-focused mindset.
