Job Overview

The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist Team Lead serves as the primary overseer for the preparation and storage of hazardous medications. This role ensures compliance with USP 800 requirements, professional standards, and relevant regulations while acting as the pharmacy department's USP 800 Designee. The position also provides pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and consults as a subject matter expert in oncology and supportive care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and storage of hazardous medications in compliance with USP 800 standards.
  • Train and ensure competency of pharmacy personnel in medication preparation processes.
  • Act as the USP 800 Designee, overseeing compliance and safe hazardous medication handling within the organization.
  • Provide expert pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • Serve as a consultant in oncology practice areas, including symptom management and supportive care.
  • Collaborate with inpatient pharmacy, Hematology/Oncology staff, and Clinical Hem/Onc Pharmacists to deliver optimal patient care.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD is required.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) licensed with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is mandatory.
