🎯 Position Overview

As a Global Safety Officer (GSO) in Immunology & Inflammation, you will serve as the internal and external safety expert responsible for ensuring the benefit–risk balance of assigned products.
You’ll lead Safety Management Teams, provide pharmacovigilance (PV) expertise, and guide safety strategy throughout product development and post-marketing phases.


⚙️ Main Responsibilities

🔹 Safety Expertise & Leadership

  • Act as the internal and external safety expert for assigned products.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product attributes, literature, and environment.

  • Lead Safety Management Teams (SMTs) and Safety Analysis Teams (SATs).

  • Represent the Global Pharmacovigilance (GPV) perspective in project discussions, regulatory meetings, and cross-functional negotiations.

  • Provide proactive safety input into development plans and due-diligence activities.

🔹 Safety Assessment & Risk Management

  • Conduct ongoing assessments of product safety profiles.

  • Review and contribute to:

    • Clinical development plans

    • Study protocols & reports

    • Investigator brochures

    • Integrated summaries of safety

    • Regulatory labeling and responses to Health Authorities

  • Manage product safety alerts and ensure internal alignment on GPV positions.

🔹 Signal Detection & Analysis

  • Oversee signal detection and safety data analysis from multiple sources.

  • Collaborate with Signal Detection and Data Mining Centers of Excellence and Safety Epidemiology teams.

  • Develop proactive strategies to refine the benefit–risk profile.

  • Coordinate and review aggregate safety data and surveillance activities.

🔹 Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Communicate complex safety and clinical issues effectively with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external partners.

  • Ensure transparency, scientific accuracy, and alignment of safety strategies globally.


🧠 About You

Qualifications

  • M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) degree required.

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, or public health/regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, NIH).

  • Experience in pharmacovigilance or immunology-related therapeutic areas preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong clinical judgment and analytical thinking.

  • Proven ability to synthesize data and conduct risk assessments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Leadership in cross-functional team environments.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).

  • Ability to prioritize and deliver under pressure with initiative and accountability.
