Role Overview:

The Global Lead Buyer – Events & Medical Communication is responsible for developing and executing global category strategies. This role ensures Sanofi captures best market value while aligning with global and local stakeholders across GBUs, GTMC, and SBO.

The position covers:

  • Sourcing and procurement of Events & Medical Communication services, including internal/external events, booths, publications, scientific engagement, medical communication services, targeted communications, production, and adaptation.

  • Supporting global transformations and optimization initiatives in events and communications.

  • Driving alignment across local markets to global strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Develop and execute category strategies in alignment with business needs.

  • Lead market analysis, RFIs/RFPs, and contract negotiations.

  • Deliver a robust savings pipeline and ensure validation by Finance.

  • Report on sourcing activities: savings, performance, risks.

  • Manage supplier relationships, performance evaluations, SRM programs, and crisis management.

  • Benchmark against best practices from other industries.

  • Ensure compliance with Procurement policies (Risk, CSR, Compliance).

  • Support audit processes and define corrective measures where needed.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong partnerships with global and local stakeholders (Business Operations Hub, Global Meetings & Events, GBUs, R&D).

  • Present procurement strategies for review and input.

  • Identify synergies across GBUs, even when cross-GBU collaboration is absent.

  • Act as a trusted partner to senior management.

About You (Candidate Profile):

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Procurement or related field (agency-side experience included).

  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong sourcing and procurement expertise.

  • Proficiency with Procurement systems (SAP, Coupa).

  • Strong analytical and project management skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and change management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and decision-making abilities.

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
