Overview
Cactus Communications (cactusglobal.com) is seeking experienced researchers and former researchers to join our network of Freelance Peer Reviewers for Life Sciences journals. This remote role allows you to evaluate manuscripts and provide expert feedback from anywhere in the United States.
Candidates must disclose their full name and institutional affiliations to maintain transparency with publishers. This flexible position provides the opportunity to contribute to high-impact research while managing your own schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Assess Novelty: Evaluate whether the manuscript presents original research and contributes new insights to the field.
Evaluate Study Design and Methodology: Ensure the study design and methods are appropriate, comprehensive, and reproducible.
Literature Review: Verify that relevant and up-to-date research is cited and incorporated accurately.
Analyse Results and Conclusions: Review whether results are clearly presented, supported by data, and meaningful to the field.
Provide Constructive Feedback: Suggest improvements, identify flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns.
Recommend Publication: Assist editors in determining whether manuscripts should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
Qualifications and Prerequisites
Doctorate (PhD/MD) or equivalent advanced degree in Life Sciences or related disciplines.
5–10 years of relevant research experience with at least 8 publications in the last ten years.
Strong understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles in scientific research.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple manuscripts efficiently.
Commitment to confidentiality and objective evaluation.
Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems.
