Job Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will act as a strategic scientific partner responsible for engaging with external healthcare stakeholders, generating actionable insights, and supporting medical strategies to improve patient access and outcomes.

The role involves scientific exchange with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), evidence generation support, clinical trial support, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve healthcare practices.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Medical Partnership & Insights Generation

  • Partner with internal teams to gather and leverage medical insights for:

    • Patient journey mapping

    • Launch excellence roadmap

    • Integrated Evidence Generation Plans

    • Integrated Product Strategy (IPS)

    • Medical strategy development

  • Identify unmet patient needs, evidence gaps, and opportunities to improve healthcare outcomes.


Scientific Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a Medical, Clinical, and Scientific expert for assigned therapeutic areas and Novartis products.

  • Identify, map, and engage relevant external stakeholders aligned with medical strategy.

  • Develop personalized engagement plans using multiple channels and scientific content.

  • Build strong relationships with:

    • Healthcare Professionals (HCPs)

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Research communities

    • Healthcare ecosystem partners


Evidence Generation & Clinical Support

  • Identify opportunities related to:

    • Real World Evidence (RWE)

    • Implementation science

    • Precision medicine

    • Clinical research initiatives

  • Support Novartis clinical trials and evidence-generation activities.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests by providing accurate, compliant, and scientific responses.


Medical Education & Digital Engagement

  • Lead scientific discussions, medical education programs, and scientific exchanges.

  • Utilize digital platforms and technology solutions for:

    • Stakeholder mapping

    • Scientific engagement

    • Medical insights collection

    • Expanding stakeholder reach


Compliance & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Follow Novartis Ethics and Compliance Professional Practices Policy (P3).

  • Maintain timely completion of:

    • CRM documentation

    • Compliance training modules

    • Expense reporting

  • Manage continuous professional and scientific development.


Required Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience preferred in Medical Affairs, MSL, Clinical Research, or related pharmaceutical medical roles.

  • Experience working in at least one therapeutic area.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Healthcare systems

    • Clinical research procedures

    • Pharmaceutical industry guidelines and compliance requirements

Educational Qualification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD

  • PhD

  • MD

  • Master's degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Pharmacy, or related disciplines


Language Requirement

  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • Kannada proficiency required


Experience Level

Preferred Experience: 2–5 years in Medical Affairs, MSL, Clinical Research, or Pharmaceutical Scientific Engagement roles.
