Job Summary

Abbott is seeking a dynamic Field Clinical Specialists Lead to join its Structural Heart division in Abbott Park, IL. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence clinical trial conduct, provide expert guidance on patient selection and procedural planning, and support innovative structural heart devices. Ideal for seasoned clinical professionals, this position plays a pivotal role in shaping surgical outcomes and patient care strategies across cardiovascular medical devices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical education and procedural support to customers and internal teams.

  • Train medical staff including surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and cath lab personnel on Structural Heart products.

  • Interpret and process Echo and CT studies for clinical trial participation.

  • Oversee clinical trials ensuring regulatory and protocol compliance.

  • Lead procedural planning through detailed patient clinical information analysis.

  • Ensure patient safety in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Conduct on-site training for hospital personnel on therapy and patient care.

  • Report and manage adverse events in compliance with internal and regulatory procedures.

  • Prepare case summaries and clinical data for internal and advisor review.

  • Engage in technical discussions, linking clinical outcomes to key product messaging.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Life Sciences or equivalent related work experience required.

  • Minimum 9+ years of relevant clinical experience in cardiology or interventional/surgical cardiac procedures.

  • Expertise in CT CAD software, Echo analysis, and cardiac hemodynamics.

  • Familiarity with sterile and aseptic techniques.

  • Strong understanding of heart failure treatment standards and hemodynamic monitoring devices.

  • Ability to wear lead aprons during procedures for extended periods.

  • Mechanical aptitude for device assembly.

  • Ability to travel up to 80%, including internationally.

  • Clean DMV record.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences or medical training (RN, Perfusion, PA).

  • Prior experience with interventional cardiology devices strongly preferred.
